I am a chicken addict. I want to give this device a fair review. It is well built in its simplicity. Despite being foam, it is dense and solid. The fan requires installing. Its not difficult but does need some skill. The wafer thermostat also requires installing. This is easy. Just take your time. I get aprox 80-100 percent on local fertile eggs and 50-70% on shipped eggs. I have had a 1602N incubator for some time. I just purchased a second one from IncubatorWarehouse. Fedex had issues shipping - it disappeared off my front step before I got home from work. IncubatorWarehouse sent me another - thank you IncubatorWarehouse. Before you run out and buy eggs, run out and get a decent hygrometer for measuring humidity. I use a Meade TM005X-M Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermo Hygrometer I do not follow the instructions that come with the bator in regard to humidity. I use the dry hatch method - you can do a search in chicken forums for the science behind it. Either way, humidity and temp are critical. I also use an automatic turner - it keeps the touching of eggs and the risk of transferring bacteria to them at a minimum. Have fun with your bator. Buy accessories with confidence from IncubatorWarehouse.

Good incubator. Easy to use. Easy to set up. Needs some work, but the product I purchased is as advertised. The plastic grid squares on the bottom need to me tighter. I lost a chick that was stuck in it. It wasn't hatched when I went to sleep, but by the time I woke up the next day it was too late. This could have been prevented. There needs to be a tube system to fill the water in the bottom tray. I made my own device, but I shouldn't have needed to. It's a better incubator than what I was working with originally, but I want it to do more.

I've borrowed an incubator in the past, same model but it didn't have the fan. Still even without the fan I had a pretty high hatch rate (about 90%). When we got ours (which has the fan kit) we put 9 guinea keet eggs in the Hovabator and on day 27 they started hatching, by day 28 all 9 eggs hatched. The directions have a chart with incubation length for different types of birds. Must admit that we weren't very strict on turning the eggs either. Easy to adjust the temperature, it comes with a thermometer (make sure the thermometer is at the same height as the top of the eggs)- and you should always make sure it maintains the correct temp for awhile BEFORE you put your eggs in. It didn't come with a hygrometer, which would be a good investment to go with the hovabator. It does make a low hum, but nothing too bad. Did what it was supposed to do, next project is D'Uccle Eggs!

Had a little giant but was only getting a 5-20% hatch rate. Purchased this and now I’m getting close to 80% hatch rate. Haven’t had to touch the temperature setting since I set it over 2 months ago.

Couldn't be happier with this product. I did purchase this model because it has a fan. Be aware that you do need to install the fan yourself but there are clear instructions and a link to a video to help you through the install. It took about 5 minutes total (not including the time to watch the video). The well underneath the mesh is large enough to bring humidity up over 80% if needed. The incubator is large enough to accommodate goose eggs and allow a gosling to squirm around without hitting the heating element but it's not tall enough that the gosling can stand up completely.

I had no idea how to hatch chicks, this incubator is fool proof. Husband hooked up the fan and I plugged it in. 12 hours later the temp and humidity stabilized and I added eggs. 21 days later eggs started to hatch, 10 eggs out of 11 are now baby chicks🐣. The directions are simple, but really all that's needed. If you want a basic incubator that's fun and easy, this is for you!

Hold temp and humidity very well, easy to work with, relatively compact. Got the associated Hova-Bator automatic egg turner which is also very good. We have two of these and have been hatching out of them continuously for the last few months with literally zero down time. Both chicken and turkey eggs. I'm sure there are more advanced units out there but for the money we are very satisfied.
