This is the only incubator I've ever used, but I can't imagine there's a more user friendly incubator out there. The way the humidity pump works is genius, and wherever you put your settings, that's where this thing stays. I hatched out 83 quail chicks with no problems. The only thing I found to be mildly inconvenient was the clean up after the hatch was over, but even that wasn't a big deal.

Very easy to set up and use. The only thing that’s missing is a way to set up a day countdown so you have to calculate that manually or else would have rated 5 stars. Other than that great product!

This unit is a set it and forget it unit. The hatch rate is absolutely amazing!!! We used it for the first time with duck eggs and 40 out of 45 hatched perfectly! This is definitely worth the money!!

It did it’s job, but let me tell you, it is a royal PAIN to clean. It struggled to maintain lockdown humidity levels (65-70%) for quail, but I used a bottle of drinking water with a “sports tip,” and regularly dribbled water into the hole where the hose goes, and that helped. If you puddle a little water on the lid, just use your finger to move it into the hole. My first chick started hatching at around 11 pm, when I woke up, I had a whole flock of babies! However, I was horrified because a good dozen of them had crawled up into the lid. I immediately opened the lid to get them out of that lip. None of them were hurt or died after that, but I consider it a major hazard and design flaw. Oh, did I mention it’s a real pain to clean?

Last year I purchased a 28 EX and hatched 2 batches of Chickens and one batch of African Guineas. I realized if I want a yield of 20 chicks I can't do it in a 28. HALF OF THEM ARE ROOSTERS. So this year I bought a 56 EX Just received it yesterday. Because of what I learned last year I was operating in an hour. It was up to temperature and humidity in 3 hours. Now I will let you in on my secrets. I live in the arid plains of Colorado. It is dry and windy here so thank God (He guides me in most everything I do) I purchased the EX with automatic humidity control. SECRET: run a piece of tubing from the output of the pump to the center slot in the water pan. This gives positive water flow and you will get immediate response when the pump turns on. (it takes too long for the water to run through the slot.) Otherwise the pump will overcompensate before the control senses the increased moisture. Just pull out the output nipple and push a piece of tubing on it. Shake the tubing down between the covers (make sure you have it long enough to reach the center of the water tray) and run it into the groves of the water tray. I have never had the humidity vary by even 1 percent. Put your excess tubing in your freezer it will keep the tubing fresh for next year. You should replace the capstan tubing every year. IF YOU LIKE SUCCESS YOU WILL LIKE BRINSEA.

This is my second Brinsea and i must say i have used some of the other knock off brands and they cant hold a candle to Brinsea love these incubators

As I just now saw in another review this seems to be a knockoff or counterfit. On the brinsea website their egg turner part for this was a yellow turner, not the black such as this one is. Idk if that's the reason I'm having issues or something else. But the humidity worked great at maintaining 45% all of phase 1 of incubation, but for lockdown (75% recommended for what i'm hatching) it will not get above a 53% without me manually adding water, so it's failing it's claim of humidity control! Another product, but also brinsea, special made egg turner for this incubator I bought doesn't really fit as many quail eggs as they claim as well, at least not jumbo quail eggs, which they should clarify... a very slightly wider holder would have made all the difference. One of them i could only put in about 10-11, which essentially wastes the thought of using a divider to put some on both sides to double up the capacity! The digital menu and stuff worked fine, temp seems fine though.

This incubator was not user friendly at all and this is not our first time hatching. Setting it up is confusing and it doesn’t work as promised. The “fully automatic” is a joke and it is very finicky with the connection to the wall outlet, causing the machine to shut itself down several times. The display and settings are difficult to work with. Considering the price, all of these things are unacceptable. I would expect some troubles like this with cheaper models but I chose Brinsea because I was willing to invest in something high quality! It’s not what I found.
